Teachers RUL

One of the main foundations to success is to have self-esteem and confidence.....to feel confident in one's own skin.

Teachers RUL (Respect, Unity and Love). Teachers RUL is a program under the umbrella of the San Diego Harbor Police Foundation with a mission to improve reading comprehension and self-esteem in children with high adverse childhood experience (ACE) scores.

We do this by providing after school tutoring to 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders at Perkins Elementary in Barrio Logan in San Diego, California where 30% of the students are homeless with 100% of the children enrolled in the program having an ACE score of equal or greater than 6. We also perform a mental health screen and a validated self-esteem screen on an ongoing basis.

We believe that children turned into adults with a positive self-esteem and self-confidence will be more content in not only their personal but also their professional life. Teachers RUL is the community effort of the San Diego Harbor Police Foundation with the goal of implementing this program in other schools with at risk children. Please visit our website for more information and how to get involved.

Maternal Mental Health Is Crucial For The Development Of Children. Support Our Heroes, Mothers, And Children

Love and Time is a nonprofit organization with a mission to provide timely therapy and resources to mothers experiencing postpartum depression and anxiety, as well as disenfranchised children and law enforcement personnel. Mental well-being is crucial for mothers to raise their children.

Children naturally turn to their mothers for care and nurture, especially during the early years of life. In a society where maternal depression and anxiety are on the rise, it becomes imperative for mothers to undergo early screenings and receive timely interventions, bypassing obstacles such as insurance authorizations and therapist wait times.
Every child deserves stability while growing up.

Unfortunately, not all children have the opportunity to experience a harmonious childhood. This lack of stability can lead to feelings of inadequacy, a sense of not belonging, and anxiety or depression. Early intervention is vital for children struggling with mental health issues. Love and Time aims to provide free mental health support and resources to both children and their families by working side by side with schools. As you can imagine, first responders are facing a significantly higher rates of depression, anxiety and suicide.

In an emergency, they are the first to be contacted and hence given the nature of their job, encountering troubling circumstances, they need more resources and support in addressing their mental well-being. At Love and Time, we aim to provide counseling in a timely fashion. Please visit: www.loveandtime.co for more information and ways to help.
